If you have a question we have not answered below please email us oc.2502@rafac.mod.gov.uk and we will endeavour to answer quickly.

Q. How much will it cost?

A. We ask for a small subscription (Subs) fee of £10 per month paid by Standing Order. New cadets are not asked to pay until they have been issued uniform, normally 6-8 weeks.

Q. Do I have to buy uniform?

Not all of it. Cadets are issues with what we call blue uniform. This is the everyday and ceremonial uniform of the Royal Air Force. We do try and issue were possible greens (Camouflage) uniform.

If we have any, we will issue shoes and boots, however these are difficult items to get and suggest you purchase these from a cadet kit shop like www.cadetdirect.com or www.cadetkitshop.com. Please talk to a member of staff before going and buying lots of kit, we can advise on good kit at the best price.

You will have to buy you own underwear! Black socks for gentlemen and barely black tights for ladies.

Q. Do I have to attend every night?

A. Not every night, we understand you have studies to do and perhaps other hobbies. We do recommend to get the best out of the ATC you attend most nights.

Q. Who can join? (Cadets)

A. Any one aged 12 years (and in year 8 at school) up to the age of 17 to join. Once you have joined you can stay till your 20th Birthday.

Q. Who can join? (Staff)

A. Anyone over the age of 20 that will compliment the current staff team and have a skill set that will benefit both the Squadron and Cadets.

Q. Will my children be safe?

A. All staff and cadets over the age of 18 are DBS (Formally CRB) checked before allowed to work with the cadets. Any activity is covered by the ATC insurance scheme and Instructors are appropriately qualified for that activities undertaken.

For more information on DBS Checks please visit https://www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check/overview
